East Surry Little League is devoted to fair play and sportsmanship.
Our number one priority is that players who choose to play in our league enjoy their experience and create lasting, positive memories.
We expect that all participants in our league including Coaches, Players, Parents and Officials have the same mindset and contribute to building the exceptional experience for all those involved in the game.
Welcome to the East Surry Little League website. For more than 35 years, this Surry County, NC league has taught youngsters the fundamental skills of baseball and softball along with good sportsmanship. Throughout the years, our players have won both State and International (World Series) championships. We provide approximately 400 children per year with equipment and supervised training in a healthy, safe environment.
Our mission is not to merely develop good ballplayers, but to develop fine young citizens who will become the future leaders of our community both on and off the field. We stress the values of character, moral courage, loyalty and team work-the same values maintained by our parent organization Little League, Inc., headquartered in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. We require these values be demonstrated by our managers, coaches, players and parents, as well as any other volunteer of the league. Our league is a non-profit, tax-emempt organization that relies on the donations of time, money, and effort from our volunteers and sponsors in order to help our children.
Little League is the largest youth sports organization in the world with over 2.5 million youth playing in 18,000 local leagues in over 40 countries. Any child within the league's boundary is eligible to participate in our activities regardless of their ability to play or the ability to pay. East Surry Little League does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color or national origin. We support over 50 physically or mentally challenged players in our local Challenger Division free of any charge. For these reasons, Little League is the only youth baseball/softball organization granted a Congressional Charter of Federal Incorporation.
Teams within each division of play are drafted in a manner that promotes an even distribution of skill level. The goal during regular season play places more emphasis on the development of the player than on winning or losing. At the end of the regular season, players are selected to highly competitive tournament teams on the basis of their performance, sportsmanship and general conduct. Tournament play starts at the district level, advances to the state and regional levels and culminates with the international world series tournament.
While other youth baseball/softball programs exist-none can compare with the Little League in terms of costs, fairness or quality of play. Why would you play anywhere else?
